Sašo Vollmaier
Vollmaier is a Slovenian pianist, known primarily for his daring solo projects that connect with various artistic fields. His most notable projects are "Vollmaier: Kind of Laibach" and "Vollmaier: Ligeti (How to Explain Ligeti to a Dead Audience)" — both premiered at Cankarjev dom. He seeks his expression in darker sonic spaces, between the classical and improvisational worlds. This sonic quality was also recognized by Yamaha, which awarded him the title of Yamaha Artist (April 2023). In recent years he has been active in performance art and theatre. His appearances include shaping stage sound with interventions of movement and spoken word. Vollmaier composes music for dance and theatre productions. His passion for the human voice led him to the Centre Artistique International Roy Hart (Malérargues, France) and the Accademia dell'Arte (Arezzo, Italy), where he shares his research and knowledge as a teacher and musical co-creator of vocal works.
The new composition titled Vollmaier: Error, will again be performed in one continuous movement — a format he has developed over the last years. In addition to form and musical dramaturgy, he experiments with the electronic aspect within the piano's acoustic sound, suggesting new directions and offering different solutions in his musical expression.
